Index
The collection (database) of information a Search Engine has acquired through either Search Engine Robots or by human input. This is information that searchers can query from. With crawler-based Search Engines, the Index is typically copies of all the Web pages they have found from crawling the Web. For Web directories, the Index contains summaries of all Web sites that have been categorized by human input.
